his manectric had been acting funny since that time they saw the pride of luxray a few days back. he did not think much about it at first, although the recent events eventually brought bits and pieces together. he thought it would have been fine to leave the thought alone, but he was proven otherwise.

he has had his electric-type out, aiming to finally reach the end of the lead he has had for weeks now. they found a different threat instead. it was not what they wanted, nor needed, but he knew they aimed to eliminate the opposition.

the manectric managed to swivel his head towards their direction before the attack, prompting kyle to do the same. he cringed at the wink, but had readied to take out a pokemon anyways as soon as he saw the attack coming. a mightyena reveals himself, standing between the attack and his trainer.

"protect!"

the barrier holds up against the barrage of leaves. the smell of wet mightyena fur makes it hard to concentrate, but he'll try to endure it for the rest of the day for the sake of his beloved town. kyle speaks up as soon as the attack ends, glaring as he sweeps the wet clump of hair away from his eyes.

"don't."

he wished he had a gun at his person right now.

"i don't think i can joke right now, sorry," he responds dryly.

the mightyena gets affected by the disarming voice more than the manectric. cringing in pain, kyle sees it unable to move freely afterwards and leaves him open for the leaf storm as it comes in.

"tana."

the manectric reacts to the command, moving itself like a blur with quick attack as it grabs the dark-type by the scruff and moves him out of the trajectory of the leaf storm.

having been repositioned, kyle orders his pokemon to put everything on a countdown. "toxic."

the mightyena produces poison from his bile, spewing them out as a spread shot towards both of the opponent's. he stands next to the manectric after she moves him out of the way, with the electric-type's eyes trying to gauge the next moves of its opponents as it readied herself for kyle's next command.

the milotic taking the toxic instead changes the whole plan. kyle did not like it, but there was nothing else to do but to adapt. that how battles were supposed to go, after all.

the water pulse drenches the mightyena, who already was weakened by the previous attack. a yelp instead of a growl of defiance was concerning, though there's no room for kyle to worry about the state of his pokemon right now.

"bravo, sand attack, and stand back."

the mightyena flicks a handful of dirt towards the milotic's face, aiming to blind. that was the only thing he could ask the dark-type for now if he doesn't want to risk it falling from attacks soon after. he trusts his manectric to be the vanguard in the first place anyways.

"tana, take front."

the manectric darts forward, maneuvering towards the serperior even as tendrils extended and attached to her. ice fangs were quick to freeze them, exerting enough force to break them as soon as the cold seeps through its core.

"switch targets. wild charge."

moisture and electric terrain makes it easy for electricity to coat her body as the manectric charges in. the reach of the serperior is too much for the manectric to easily maneuver against as she faces the slam head on, but not before intensifying the effects of static upon contact.

skidding from the momentum of the charge and using the hit as brakes of some sort, the beast manages to change the direction of her charge to the water-type. the electricity from the environment eases her muscles once again as she approaches her with ferocity.

"and bravo, just keep doing that."

the mightyena remains at the back, simply chucking sand attacks at the opposition. the target this time was the serperior.
